Mr Lim (not his real name) was a senior-level executive in the civil service until his retirement in 2007. After that, he had set up a small consulting company to provide human resource training for corporate clients, and his business was growing. Being a sensible man, he went about making a Will with one of the leading Will-writing agencies in Malaysia. However, he still wasn’t entirely satisfied that his children would find his Will and sought a backup solution.
Mr Lim came to see us about depositing his Will. He was concerned that his children would not be able to locate his Will. He evaluated depositing his Will in his safe deposit box, but found out that his safe deposit box would be inaccessible to his children in the event of his passing away, until a letter of administration or grant of probate was produced. He also briefly considered depositing his Will with a law firm but was reminded of the great number of law firms operating in this country. He also considered depositing his Will with a second Will-writing agency, but they asked him to write a new Will, which would defeat his first Will.
Mr Lim settled on our services because he knew that his Will would be in a safe and secure storage facility. His Will is also stored by the people who wrote it for him. He knows that his Will will be found more easily by his children with our assistance. And, if he should need to rewrite the Will, he can also bring a copy of the new Will to our office to be deposited to his account.
